Duties and responsibilities other than those listed may well become routine, based on functions required for the successful operation of the Lancaster Museum of Art.
Title: Development Specialist
Reports to: Executive Director
Department Name: Development
Job Summary: The Development Specialist is responsible for creating and executing all upper level fund raising programs and fund raising opportunities which effectively communicate the vision and mission of the Lancaster Museum of Art. The Development Specialist is expected to attend openings and public functions of the museum. The Development Specialist is to provide support in the operation of the museum as the need occurs.
I. Essential Functions:
A. Co-create with the Membership & Events Coordinator, a Development/Fund Raising budget proposal for the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees with goals that are sufficient to cover or exceed annual operating expenses.
B. Implement the Development/Fund Raising budget in a cost effective manner.
C. Cultivate upper level donor support by coordinating and making direct solicitation calls to individuals, corporations and foundations on behalf of the museum.
D. Coordinate the preparation and submission of all grant applications and proposals for the acquisition of local, state, federal, public and private funds with the Executive Director.
E. Maintain an efficient and accurate record of gifts and all fund raising campaigns, coordinate production of reports with Membership and Events Coordinator.
F. Create and maintain all development and fund raising progress reports and provide monthly updates to the Executive Director and Board of Trustees.
G. Present the financial report on development and fund raising activities/progress to the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees at each meeting.
H. Provide pertinent information to the Membership and Events Coordinator for the acknowledgment of all gifts.
I. Provide updated name/address/email information to Membership and Events Coordinator to ensure the LMA database contains complete and accurate mailing information.
J. Coordinate the production of fund raising and fund raising related promotional materials and press releases with the Executive Director and Membership and Events Coordinator.
K. Build communication and team support for the successful operation of the Lancaster Museum of Art.
L. Work with the Sustainability Committee and individual board members to assist with development opportunities.

A. Individual, Corporate, and Foundation Support
1. Build relationships with potential donors
2. Increase support to meet or exceed budgetary goals
3. Increase the average gift amount
4. Increase the number of repeat donations
B. Grants
1. Discover grant opportunities and sources of funding
2. Prepare grant applications and proposals
C. Exhibition Sponsorship
1. Solicit donations and sponsorships for specific exhibitions
2. Coordinate solicitations with the exhibition schedule
3. Ensure that corporate donors receive appropriate recognition
4. Strengthen existing corporate support and develop new corporate support through exhibition sponsorship
