The Open Art Award Exhibition

The Lancaster Summer Arts Festival’s 45th Annual Open Art Award Exhibition, hosted by the Lancaster Museum of Art, will be on display June 2 through July 29. This annual exhibition presents a survey of the visual arts by Lancaster County artists.

This year’s exhibit features 191 works in painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing and mixed media.

The People’s Choice Award, sponsored by the Lancaster Museum of Art, will be awarded at the conclusion of the exhibition. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to cast their vote for a favorite piece. The 2007 exhibit marks the addition of a Purchase Award, sponsored by the Museum, in recognition of Margaret Lestz’s dedication to the arts. Blakelyn Albright’s piece Two Dots was selected to receive the Purchase Award.

Lou Ziegler Good Night Grace Mixed media 1st Place

Dan Talley, Professor of Fine Arts and Gallery Director of the Sharadin Gallery at Kutztown University selected Lou Ziegler’s Good Night Grace to receive the 1st Place award, sponsored by Echo Valley Art Group; Matthew Lawrence’s I Went Mad Cutting My Grass to receive the 2nd Place award, sponsored by Certified Carpet and Love 3 by Kenneth Hill to receive the 3rd Place award, sponsored by Novelty Manufacturing Company.
