AGES 3 - 5, WITH AN ADULT
PROMISING PICASSOS & POTTERS
Creativity is fun! Children and their adult partners will explore their “artsy” side through a variety of media, styles and techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture and clay. Wear old clothing and rubber-soled shoes.

HANDS ON ART & CLAY
Aspiring artists will focus on the
FUNdamentals of art. Children will enjoy creativity and imagination while exploring a variety of art media including painting, printmaking, sculpture and clay. Children will learn hand-building and glazing techniques through a variety of fun and creative projects. Wear old clothing and rubber-soled shoes.

ARTSMART
Meet new friends, have fun and get ArtSmart while you create unique artwork through a variety of painting, drawing, and sculpture projects! Bring a smock and a snack to class.

YOUNG POTTERS
Pots, cups, bowls, and more! Children will work with clay to create pottery on the wheel. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore hand-building, surface decoration and glazing. Wear old clothing and rubber-soled shoes.

AROUND THE WORLD IN 5 DAYS
This camp will highlight general artistic themes or techniques from each of the
populated continents (North America, South America, Africa, Europe and Asia). Students will develop cross-cultural understanding while honing their art skills and creative expression.

YOUTH/TEEN AGES 10 - 17
YOUTH DRAWING & PAINTING
Learn and explore the elements and principles of design through a variety of drawing and painting techniques. Study line, value, depth, composition, color, shape, texture and balance. Demonstrations and fundamental reviews are given to help participants advance their skills.

CREATING CARTOONS
Continue to develop drawing skills through the fun of cartooning! Participants will create their own character while learning about form, light and shading as it applies to the human figure. Expressions, body, attitude and composition will be covered.

DREAM IT, DESIGN IT! CAMP
Learn design principles utilizing mixed media and collage techniques. Students will use their imagination while applying concepts of shape and texture, line, balance and depth.

TEEN CLAY WORKSHOP, AGES 13 - 17
Teens of all skill levels are welcome, including beginners and those with prior clay experience. Participants will make cups, bowls and plates on the potter’s wheel, create hand-built forms and learn how to glaze and fire their creations.

ADULT CLASSES, AGES 18 +
DRAWING I
Explore the basic principles of drawing such as line, value, form and depth along with light/shadow, negative/positive space, color theory, texture and composition. Participants will use a variety of drawing mediums including pencil, charcoal, ink and pastels on paper.

INTRODUCTION TO PAINTING
See the world through new eyes and explore the world of paint. Find out what exactly is in those tubes and what’s the point of a bevy of brushes. Using both acrylic and oil paint, this class covers materials, surfaces, tools and techniques. A basic knowledge of color mixing and drawing is helpful, but not required.

BEGINNING CERAMICS
Learn to make functional and decorative ceramics on the wheel and by hand-building. Mugs, vases, plates and bowls are just a few of the creations you’ll make. Basic construction skills are taught, as well as glazing and firing. Bring a towel to class. All materials (up to 25 lbs. of clay) and firing charges are included in the class fee.

INSTRUCTORS
Amy Holland received her BS in Art Education from Penn State University. Amy has been teaching art and ceramics for 12 years, including several years at the Shelburne Craft School in Vermont.
Richard Huck received his BS in Art Education from Millersville University. He has been teaching high school art for over 25 years. He has lectured at many colleges including F&M and Millersville. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
Angela Lawrence is working towards a BS in Art Education and a BFA in Ceramics at
Millersville University. She is currently the Ceramics Studio Assistant at the University and is gifted in a range of art forms including ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
Shalya Marsh received a BFA in Ceramics from the State University of New York at New Paltz . She completed a residency at Millersville University and teaches art at La Academia charter school. She exhibits her work both regionally and nationally. Karen Mastropietro is an Art Instructor in the School District of Lancaster and has a
MEd in Art Education from Millersville University.
Michele Swoope received a BS and is working toward a MEd in Art Education from
Millersville University. She teaches elementary art in the Cocalico School District.
Donna Welsh received her formal training from the York Academy of Arts.
An accomplished portrait artist, she has been teaching adult education classes in painting and drawing for over 25 years.
Susie Wenger received a BFA in Design from Millersville University. She has had varied experience illustrating several children�s books, working in publication design, lecturing at the University of West Alabama, and teaching art classes to children.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Tuition assistance for children, youth and teen classes is available through various
privately sponsored scholarship funds. Scholarships are awarded in amounts up to 70% of the class tuition, based on financial need. In order to help a larger number of children, funds have been limited to one scholarship per child per year. For more information or an application, call or stop by the Museum.
Please submit your application at least three weeks prior to the beginning of class.

CLASS REGISTRATION GUIDELINES & POLICIES
REGISTRATION DEADLINES are SEVEN DAYS prior to the first day of class.
You may register for a class:
by calling 717.394.3497, during Museum hours, Tuesday - Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 12-4
or by mailing your registration form & payment to:

or by faxing form with credit card number, expiration date,
authorized signature, address and phone number to: (717) 394-0101.
PLEASE NOTE MUSEUM POLICIES:
• IF MINIMUM ENROLLMENT OF SIX STUDENTS PER CLASS is not reached SEVEN DAYS prior to the 1st class session, LMA reserves the right to cancel the class. Tuition will be refunded.
• CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED TO 10. To ensure a place in class, payment is due upon registration.
• Tuition fees are not refundable after the 2nd class session.
• If a student is unable to attend a class session for any reason, LMA is not responsible for providing a make-up class.
• Missed classes and membership fees are non-refundable.
• Not attending class does not constitute an official withdrawal from courses or cancellation of fees.
• LMA reserves the right to cancel/change any course listed, substitute instructors or modify fees as needed.
• Photographs & Promotions: Lancaster Museum of Art regularly photographs and/or videotapes activities and uses these images to promote our programs.
