What is ArtsReach?
ArtsReach, an educational outreach program complementing the exhibition schedule at the Museum,was recently instituted in response to the establishment of an Arts Partnership with eight regional arts organizations and regional school districts.

ARTSREACH CLASSES
WINTER / SPRING 2005
Children 7 - 17 years of age, explore the Museum's exhibition and
apply what they see and learn to make original pieces of art. Projects
incorporate technique, aesthetics, criticism and art history.
A full listing of Artsreach programs will be available soon, with more
programs to be scheduled at the libraries around the county. To receive
an ArtsReach flier, make sure your name is on our mailing list! This will
give you advance notification of all the programs so you can register early!

Carol Galligan: In Search of theTao
January 22nd 1-3 pm (ages 7 - 11)
January 29th 1-3 pm (ages 13 - 17)

After touring the exhibition In Search of the Tao by Carol Galligan, participants will create mixed media shadowboxes. These personal reliquaries will focus on the creation personal space using found objects to create symbolic meaning.

Benjamin Long
March 12th 1-3 pm (ages 7 - 11)
March 19th 1-3 pm (ages 13 - 17)

Following a tour and discussion of the exhibition of paintings by Benjamin Long, participants will draw from flowers,
seed pods and other natural objects. Using bold wallpaper
and apolstry remnants they will transform their sketches
into vibrant and imaginary organic collage reliefs.

Froggy and More

A tour of the exhibit Froggy and More: illustrations by Frank Remkiewicz will set the stage for children to create a unique story of their own. After sketching from the exhibition, participants will move to the studio where they will write and illustrate a short story binding their illustrations into a book all their own. |

Children and teens, 6-17 years of age, explore the Museum's exhibitions and apply what they see and learn to make original pieces of art. Projects incorporate technique, aesthetics, criticism and art history.
Who Teaches the Workshops?
Shalya Marsh is the instructor for the ArtsReach Programs. Ms. Marsh received her BFA from the State University of New York, New Paltz. Since 2001 she has been an instructor of youth and adult clay classes at the Lancaster Museum of Art and is a resident artist in the Creative Artists Networks Hand in Hand Teaching Residency in Philadelphia. Ms. Marsh is also an active artist and has exhibited her clay and mixed media pieces regionally and nationally.
